Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler are taking the stage together for "CMT Crossroads" on Saturday and bonded over their shared "American Idol" experience.

"You were why I took judging for 'Idol,' you are exactly why," Tyler told Underwood in a preview for the CMT Crossroads, which can be seen below. "Not only could you sing good, but you adapted to this...it's a pit! It's a deep, dark, ominous pit. And you get out there on-stage at night with that band, that great band you've got and you make people feel happy, first and foremost. All the rest, if people knew what we went through to get out on that stage... you have gotten past that and not a lot of people do - they have to get through drugs and alcohol, booze and divorces and even those didn't make it. You were a natural at it."

Underwood is one of "American Idol"'s greatest success stories after winning season four of the reality singing competition. Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler serves as a judge on the series opposite Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson.

"I remember as a very small child, I could pick your voice out. Even then, you know that it's different, you know that it's special and can pick it out from a million other voices," Underwood told Tyler. "You were definitely part of what gave me that musical, laid-back, in-the-pocket sensibility on albums and stuff like that."

The pair are set to perform together on "CMT Crossroads : Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood Live From Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam" live special on Saturday, as part of the network's Super Bowl XLVI programming.

"I'm excited about our opening, I don't want to give away too much," Underwood said of her first "Crossroads" set.

"And I'm excited for a marriage of songs that we put together. Which is phenomenal," Tyler added.

In a preview video, the musicians are shown singing a mash-up of Aerosmith's "Dream On" and Underwood's "Just A Dream."

Tyler, who is known as the "Demon of Screamin'" due to his signature vocals has earned four Grammy Awards with Aerosmith and began judging "American Idol" in 2009.

The 63-year-old singer revealed earlier in the month that he was engaged to his girlfriend Erin Brady, 38. The two have been dating for five years.

Underwood launched her career by winning season four of "American Idol." Since then, the country star has sold over 12 million albums and won five Grammys, three Country Music awards and a Golden Globe nomination for her single, "There's a Place for Us," which was featured in "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader."

In the summer of 2010, Underwood married pro-hockey player, Mike Fisher. Her latest album, "Play On" was released in 2009 and the country singer is currently preparing to release her fourth studio album on May 1, it was announced on February 2. The album's first single will be "Good Girl."

Watch Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler prepare for their special "CMT Crossroads," which is set to air at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 4 on CMT.
