Bruce Springsteen's new album: Hear music online & on 'The Good Wife'
The CBS drama series "The Good Wife" has teamed up with The Boss.
Bruce Springsteen's new album "High Hopes," his 18th studio record, will be made available for streaming on CBS.com on Sunday, Jan. 5, following the broadcast of the show on television. A special preview for the following week's episode will feature music from the album and will prompt viewers to visit CBS.com/Springsteen to listen to it in its entirety.
CBS announced the news on Thursday, Jan. 2, days after a recent posting on Amazon's mobile website of the album's tracks in MP3 format. They have since been removed.
Also, three songs from "High Hopes" -- the title track, "Hunter of Invisible Game" and "The Ghost of Tom Joad," will be featured on an episode of "The Good Wife" that airs on Jan. 12. The series stars Emmy-winning actress Julianna Margulies as litigator Alicia Florrick.
"We love using music in 'The Good Wife' and we always have the music inform the action and the cutting," Robert King and Michelle King, executive producers and creators of the show, said in a CBS statement obtained by OTRC.com on. "So when the Bruce Springsteen songs became available, we couldn't believe our luck. We wished we could use the whole album."
Springsteen's album will stop being streamed on CBS.com on Jan. 13. The record is set to be released officially a day later. "High Hopes" features Springstreen's longtime backing and touring group, the E Street Band, including deceased musicians Clarence Clemons, who died in 2011, and Danny Federici, who passed away in 2008.
