Bruce Springsteen to appear at two rallies for President Barack Obama

10/14/2012 by Kristina Lopez

Bruce Springsteen is briefly hitting the campaign trail in support of President Barack Obama.

The legendary musician will join former President Bill Clinton at one rally in Parma, Ohio, and Springsteen will appear at another in Ames, Iowa on Thursday, October 18, according to a statement on Springsteen's website.

Springsteen's appearances will be free and open to the public. Information about the timing and location will be released in the coming days. The singer's appearances will come two days after the second presidential debate and President Obama will not attend the rallies.

"Bruce Springsteen's values echo what the President and Vice President stand for: hard work, fairness, integrity," Jim Messina, Obama-Biden campaign manager, said in a statement. "His appearances will help with our get out the vote effort in these critical swing states and we are thrilled with his ongoing support."

Springsteen previously campaigned for President Obama in 2008, but these two appearances will be his first of the appearances of the 2012 cycle.
