Miss America 2012 was crowned during a live show from Las Vegas on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012.
Brooke Burke-Charvet recently showed the scar left on her throat after undergoing surgery for thyroid cancer on national television and described how her children handled the news of her diagnosis.
The 41-year-old co-host of the ABC show "Dancing With The Stars" and mother of four underwent the procedure on December 5. She announced on her blog, ModernMom, a week later that she was cancer free.
Brooke Burke-Charvet Tweeted to fans that she is "resting, recovering" after undergoing thyroid cancer surgery on Wednesday, December 5.
"I'm resting, recovering. Surgery went well. Dr Adashek is a genius," she Tweeted on Thursday, December 6. "Thx Dr! Feels like I got hit my a car :("
Brooke Burke-Charvet says she will undergo surgery soon to treat her thyroid cancer.
The 41-year-old had confirmed her diagnosis last month, saying she needed a thyroidectomy, or removal of part of all of her thyroid gland. After her announcement, she continued her work as a co-host of "Dancing With The Stars," which ended its "All-Stars" season last week. Meanwhile, a slew of fans have been sending her messages of support.
Brooke Burke-Charvet has confirmed that she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
"I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy, which means I'm going to have a nice, big scar right here on neck," Burke-Charvet said in a YouTube video posted on her parenting blog, Modernmom.com. "And, I don't get to just walk around and pretend that nothing happened and not follow up and not share it because it's going to be pretty much dead center."
The 2012 Miss America pageant is set to take place on Saturday in Las Vegas and some of the contestants shared some of their talents and anticipations with OnTheRedCarpet.com.
The esteemed competition, premiering on January 14 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC , will showcase 53 young women representing their home states, all vying for the opportunity to be crowned Miss America.
Brooke Burke is officially taking on her husband David Carvet's last name.
"Tomorrow on 'Dancing with the Stars' will be the first time I go by my new name [on TV]," The 39-year-old "Dancing With The Stars" co-host told People magazine at Sunday's Emmy Awards. "I'm happy about being Brooke Charvet."
Kellan Lutz, who plays vampire Emmett Cullen in the "Twilight" films, charmed the ladies at the launch of Dylan George's Abbot + Main Spring 2012 line and the official "PROJECT" after party at Chateau Nightclub and Gardens at Paris Las Vegas on Aug. 23, 2011.
Also in attendance - star couple and newlyweds David Charvet and Brooke Burke and Danny Guez, founder of Dylan George denim. Lutz is the face of the fashion brand. Burke's rep confirmed the news to People magazine and the host hinted at her news on Twitter on Saturday morning, writing, "morning tweeties. Waiting for LA to wake up... big news to share."
