Britney Spears to give surprise Vegas performance with DJ Pauly D
Britney Spears' album "Femme Fatale" hits stores in less than a week and the pop princess is promoting it with a no-longer-surprise appearance at the Rain nightclub in Las Vegas' Palms Casino and Resort on Friday, March 25, which will mark her first major public performance since November 2009.
"Jersey Shore"'s DJ Pauly D will also be at the casino for a set for their Clash Friday night. The pop singer's performance was intended to be a surprise, but when word got out, she broke the news on Twitter.
"Looks like my little secret isnt a secret anymore. Whos coming to watch me take the stage TONIGHT at @RainLasVegas at @PalmsLasVegas?" Britney wrote on the social networking site. She also posted a photo of the marquee (posted below) and wrote, "I wonder who the special guest is? -Britney."
Pauly D, who stars on MTV's popular "Jersey Shore" reality show, signed a deal with the Palms Casino to be their resident DJ on March 15 and wrote on his blog, "It's the biggest thing that could have happened to me... [DJing is] my heart, my passion. I've always wanted to spin in Vegas." LA Weekly reported that Pauly D makes $50,000 a night to DJ and referred to him as the "worst DJ ever."
A source close to the matter said that the show was already sold out and would not disclose the price of the tickets. Cover price at the 1800 occupancy venue starts at $30-$40, depending on the night.
In 2003, Spears also did a secret performace at Rain to promote her album "In the Zone" and surprised club-goers with a 30-minute set.
Spears, 29, has been promoting her latest LP on various talk shows, including "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" where she performed "Till the World Ends" and "Hold It Against Me" and on an episode of "Good Morning America" which will air on the album's release date. The singer is scheduled to appear on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and the Kids' Choice Awards next week. She will also take over MTV on March 29 in what has been dubbed "Britney Takeover" day.
The pop star has been gearing up for her album release for months, releasing video and song teasers and a premiere of her "Hold It Against Me" music video.
Spears premiered her new music video "Hold It Against Me" in February and premiered the second single from the album, "'Till the World Ends," in early March. Check out the track listing for "Femme Fatale".
