Britney Spears' fiance Jason Trawick becomes co-conservator

04/25/2012 by Olivia Allin

Britney Spears' fiancé Justin Trawick has officially become her newest conservator.

OnTheRedCarpet.com has learned that Superior Court Judge Reva Goetz approved Spear's request that Trawick become co-conservator of her and her estate, at a closed hearing on April 25. Trawick joins the 30-year-old pop star's father Jamie Spears in having control over several decision-making aspects of Spears' personal life but not in managing her assets.

Spears and Trawick appeared in court earlier in the month to request the hearing. Spears' attorney Geraldine Wyle said that Spears was thrilled to have Trawick involved.

Spears has been under the conservatorship of her father, Jamie Spears since February 2008, when she suffered a meltdown that that saw her shaving her own head at a salon (watch video). The conservatorship can be lifted once a judge and Spears' doctors agree that the singer can manage her own affairs.

Trawick and Spears have been dating since the summer of 2009. Prior to that, the two had a professional relationship as Trawick was Spears' manager. The two ended their professional ties in May 2010 to "focus on their personal relationship."

Spears got engaged to Trawick on December 15, Trawick confirmed the news, telling Access Hollywood, "Yes, we are engaged... [We are] over the moon."

Previously, Spears was married to Kevin Federline for two and a half years before their marriage ended in 2007. Spears and Federline have two sons together, Sean Preston, 6, and Jayden James, 5.

Spears is nowadays also making headlines over a reported deal to join "The X Factor," Simon Cowell's singing contest series, as a judge and mentor following the departures of Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger earlier this year.

In March, it was reported that she had received a $10 million offer to take the job. Deadline.com reported on Tuesday that Spears is now poised to earn more than that and "the two sides are now headed for the final stretch after a big breakthrough over the weekend when major deal points were agreed upon."

Earlier in the month, Cowell told TMZ in a phone interview that an announcement is expected "soon," adding, "I would love to have her on the show... I think she would be a fascinating person to sit next to."
