Bristol Palin: my mom and I are redneck women

10/01/2012 by Olivia Allin

Bristol Palin was legitimately excited to perform during the second week of "Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars," mostly because she was dancing to her favorite song, Gretchen Wilson's country anthem "Redneck Woman."

Palin's mother, former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin was singing and dancing in the audience, which didn't surprise her daughter.

"I think she's a redneck woman too, I think we both are," Palin told OTRC.com of her mother, Sarah Palin, after the October 1 episode. "It was a fun night, who cares what the judges scores are?"

Though Palin had a great time on the dance floor, the judges awarded her and her partner Mark Ballas the lowest score of the night - 18 points out of 30. But the reality star, who took Ballas to a shooting range in preparation for their country dance, was unfazed by the judge's criticism.

"There are way more bigger things to worry about in life than a bad score on this show," Palin said. "I'm having fun - I had fun dancing to that song and I had fun shooting. It was just a good time, it was all good fun.... I think that shows my roots and shows what I like to do. It's not all about the spray tans and all that glitzy stuff. I like to be outside, doing stuff like that."

The judges told Ballas, a two-time "Dancing With The Stars" champion, that the pair broke their holds for too long during their Quickstep.

"I understand [the judges] points, they don't like it when you break holds. I tried to change the timing of the hold, because usually you're allowed to be ten seconds out at the beginning and ten seconds out at the end - so I tried to reverse and start and hold," Ballas explained. "It's a country song - I've never done Quickstep to a country song and we had to have that little country two-step thing going on and it's her favorite song, I didn't want to have her restricted for the whole thing. I don't care, I just want her to have a good time."

This week, former Disney star Sabrina Bryan and her partner Louis Van Amstel landed at the top of the leader board, followed by French actor Gilles Marini and his partner Peta Murgatroyd. Check out a recap and photos from the episode.

Last week, Pamela Anderson was the first star to get eliminated and another star will go home on Tuesday night's elimination round. Who are you rooting for and who do you think will be going home? Vote in our poll below.
