Bristol Palin fires back at Keith Olbermann after he calls her the 'worst person in the world'
Bristol Palin recently fired back at political commentator Keith Olbermann of MSNBC, who called the former teen mother "the worst person in the world" because she preaches abstinence to teenagers.
Bristol Palin, the 20-year-old daughter of Republican politician and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and a recent "Dancing With the Stars" finalist, was 18 when she gave birth to her son Tripp out of wedlock.
"To Mr. Olbermann let me say this: you can attack me all you want," Bristol Palin said on her Facebook page on Thursday. "But you will not stop me from getting my message out about teen pregnancy prevention. And one day, if you ever have a daughter, you may change your mind about me."
Olbermann has not responded. Over the past year or so, Bristol Palin has spoken against teenage pregnancy in public service announcements and appeared on the ABC Family series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager", which deals with the issue.
Olbermann made his comments after seeing her recent ad that also starred Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, a cast member on MTV reality series "Jersey Shore" and fellow former "Dancing With the Stars" finalist.
"Mr. Olbermann fails to understand that in order to have credibility as a spokesperson, it sometimes takes a person who has made mistakes," she said. "Former gang members travel to schools to educate teenagers about the risks of gang life. Recovered addicts lecture to others about the risks of alcohol and drug abuse. And yes, a teen mother talks about the benefits of preventing teen pregnancy."
"I have never claimed to be perfect," she added. "If that makes me the 'worst person in the world' to Mr. Olbermann, then I must apologize for not being absolutely faultless like he undoubtedly must be."
