Bret Michaels set to launch two product lines for guitars and pets
Bret Michaels might be taking the lessons he learned from his big win on "Celebrity Apprentice" in 2010 and using the skills to launch two new business ventures.
First up, the rocker is set to launch his "Signature Acoustic Guitar Collection" through a partnership with Dean Guitars for the Home Shopping Network. That collection will be made available on October 2 at 8 p.m. Michaels is set to play a six-song set including hits like "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," during the sale in front of a studio audience, according to a statement from HSN.
The former Poison front man is also teaming up with PetSmart to launch a line of pet products to be sold exclusively at the chain called "Bret Michaels Pets Rock Collection." The collection will be made available in the summer of 2012.
"Adding the Bret Michaels Pets Rock collection to PetSmart stores enables us to continue to meet our pet parents' needs with a 'cool' line of products from an entertainer with a demonstrated passion for our four-legged family members," Matt McAdam, the vice president of merchandising for PetSmart, said in a statement.
"As a musician who loves animals, I'm thrilled to be collaborating with PetSmart to create the Bret Michaels Pets Rock collection," Michaels, who has two dogs, said in a statement. "As a dedicated pet owner myself, this is a natural partnership for me, and I can't wait to unveil the collection. I know my own pets rock, and I wanted to design a line of pet products every bit as fun and cool as they are."
The company previously worked with Martha Stewart in 2010 to develop her own line of pet products called "Martha Stewarts Pets."
Earlier this year, Michaels released his fourth solo album and toured North America. In December 2010, an episode of this VH1 reality show "Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It" showed that he and longtime girlfriend Kristi Gibson, the mother of his two daughters, have gotten engaged.
In January 2011, Michaels underwent heart surgery, where doctors inserted a device that would stop abnormal blood flow between two chambers of his heart, which is thought to have caused the stroke. Doctors found a hole in Michael's heart in April after treating him for a warning stroke and brain hemorrhage.
Michaels filed a lawsuit in March against the Tonys and CBS for an injury he sustained while performing at the 2009 Tonys, which he claims might have been responsible for Michaels' 2010 subarachnoid hemorrhage since head trauma is one of the main causes of that type of hemorrhage.
Poison was most popular in the 1980s with hits such as "Nothing But a Good Time" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." Michaels gained a whole new generation of fans with his VH1 dating reality series "Rock of Love."
