Brandy Norwood reveals struggle with an eating disorder on 'Behind The Music' episode, report says
Brandy Norwood reportedly gets candid in her episode of VH1's "Behind the Music," revealing that she once suffered from an eating disorder in her teens.
The 33-year-old singer was successful at an early age, nabbing a record deal at 14 and releasing her debut album at 15, which went on to sell six million units. At 17, Norwood starred in her own sitcom "Moesha."
"I wanted to be so thin. That was my main thing," Norwood reportedly says in the episode, according to Us Weekly. "So I started not taking care of myself -- not eating properly, not eating at all, diet pills, regurgitating, and all of these things that girls do."
Norwood also talked about her year-long relationship with Boyz II Men singer Wanya Morris. Morris, who is five years old than Norwood, broke things off with the songstress in 1997.
"He fell in love with someone else. The worst feeling is to be in love all by yourself," she said. "It felt like somebody had just completely taken my heart out of my body and just crushed it."
Norwood, now the mother of a 9-year-old daughter named Sy'rai, recently released the debut single from her sixth studio album "Two Eleven." The single, titled "It All Belongs to Me," is a duet that teams her back up with Monica. The two singers previously recorded the 1998 single "The Boy Is Mine."
The singer also starred on the 11th season of "Dancing With The Stars," where she and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy came in fourth place. Norwood has a role in the upcoming film "The Marriage Counselor."
"Two Eleven" is due out in June. Norwood's "Behind The Music" episode on April 25 on VH1 at 9 p.m. Check out a preview of the episode below.
