Albert Finney of "The Bourne Ultimatum" has reportedly joined the cast of the new James Bond film, a report says.

Daniel Craig reprises his role as Agent 007 in the new movie, which recently began production in the United Kingdom, casting notes show. The spy thriller is set for release in the United States on Nov. 9, 2012.

The movie is the 23rd film in the 007 franchise and does not yet have an official title but is meanwhile being referred to by fans and studio officials as "Bond 23." Sam Mendes serves as its director.

Finney is set to play "a Foreign Office mandarin with powers over the Secret Intelligence Service," the UK newspaper The Daily Mail reported recently, adding that the role is "reasonably big" and "full of class." Studio officials have not commented about the report.

Finney, a 75-year-old British actor, began his on-screen acting career in the mid 1950s. In 2007, he starred in a different spy thriller - "The Bourne Ultimatum," which saw him play Dr. Albert Hirsch (pictured, above). He also appeared in films such as "Big Fish" in 2003 and "Erin Brockovich" in 2000.

Javier Bardem, who won an Oscar for his role as an assassin in the 2007 film "No Country for Old Men," is set to play a villain in the new "Bond" film, while Judi Dench returns as MI6 head M and French actress Berenice Marlohe is set to portray a Bond Girl, marking her first English-speaking role.

Naomie Harris, who played Tia Dalma in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films, is set to play Bond's loyal friend and MI6 secretary Miss Moneypenny, while Rory Kinnea has been cast as M's chief of staff, Bill Tanner.

The cast also includes Ralph Fiennes and Helen McCrory, who played the evil Lord Voldemort and Narcissa Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" films, as well as British actor Ben Whishaw. Details about their roles have not been specified.
