Bon Jovi is No. 1 on 2013 top-grossing tours list

12/31/2013 by Corinne Heller

Bon Jovi earned $259.5 million in tour revenue in 2013 and comes in at No. 1 on Pollstar's list of top-grossing world tours that year, beating the likes of Beyonce, Justin Bieber and One Direction.

The rock band, led by Jon Bon Jovi, began its Because We Can global tour to promote a new album by the same name in February. Longtime guitarist Richie Sambora dropped out in March, citing "personal issues." Pollstar reported that Bon Jovi's 2013 tour gross of $259.5 million was also the highest ever earned by the band, which rose to fame in the 1980s with rock anthems such as "Livin' On A Prayer" and "You Give Love A Bad Name" and years later, "It's My Life."

Others who made the cut on Pollstar's list include Bruce Springsteen - a friend and childhood idol of singer Bon Jovi, as well as pop stars Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Pink. Check out the top 10 list below.

1. Bon Jovi - $259.5 million

2. Beyonce - $188.6 million

3. Pink - $170.6 million

4. Justin Bieber - $169 million

5. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band - $145.4 million

6. Rihanna - $141.9 million

8. Taylor Swift - $131 million

9. Depeche Mode - $119.6 million

10. One Direction - $114 million

Bon Jovi also nabbed the No. 1 spot on Pollstar's 2010 list. In 2012, the group did not tour and Madonna was No. 1 with $296.1 million, while Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band came in second with $210.2 million. Bon Jovi was No. 3 on Pollstar's 2011 list with $148.8 million.
