Bobbi Kristina Brown debuts engagement ring (Photo)

10/24/2012 by Olivia Allin

Bobbi Kristina Brown was photographed wearing what appears to be a black diamond engagement ring.

Brown debuted her massive ring at the premiere party for her new Lifetime series, "The Houstons On Our Own," weeks after it was revealed that her "adopted brother" Nick Gordon popped the question and she had accepted.

Brown and Gordon were shown kissing on the red carpet event and Whitney Houston's daughter showed off the 15 carat sapphire ring, surrounded by 1.5 carats of diamonds. The ring is very similar to Kate Middleton's 18 carat sapphire ring, which previously belonged to Princess Diana.

The engagement was confirmed in a clip from the Lifetime reality series, featured on E! News earlier in the month, and shows the 19-year-old is seen telling her family, "We're engaged!"

In the clip, Brown's aunt Pat Houston responded to the announcement by telling the cameras it is "unacceptable." Her uncle Gary Houston also didn't approve of the union, telling Gordon sternly, "No one knew that from a godson, you were going to turn into a boyfriend, no one knew that."

Brown and Gordon reportedly grew up together and Brown previously referred to Gordon as her "adopted brother." Although Whitney Houston never adopted Gordon, her brother Michael told ABC News that Gordon was "like a son" to Houston, who took Gordon in a decade ago after learning that his birth mother could no longer care for him.

Gordon previously denied the two were in a relationship after rumors that the two were engaged were sparked when Brown was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her ring finger on her left hand. The ring in question once belonged to her mother Whitney Houston, according to reports.

On August 8, Brown and Gordon got matching tattoos on their wrists in memory of Houston. The tattoos feature Houston's initials W and H surrounded by birds.

"Tat tat tatted YURP.. ;) now your truly ALWAYS with us mommy (: we love you@nickdgordon always&forever{<3}," Bobbi Kristina wrote on her Twitter page, linking to her instagram photo of the tattoo, on August 8. The following day would have been Houston's 49th birthday.

Houston died on February 11 at the age of 48 inside a hotel room at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, a day before the 2012 Grammy Awards. She was found in a bathtub and her death was ruled an accidental drowning, spurred by cocaine use and a pre-existing heart condition.

Houston made her last on-screen appearance in the remake "Sparkle" with "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks. It was her first role since the 1997 TV movie "Cinderella." The film opened in theaters on August 17. Bobbi Kristina and Gordon looked cozy at the film's premiere.

"The Houstons: On Our Own" is set to premiere on Lifetime at 9 p.m. Central on Wednesday, October 24. Watch a preview below.
