Blake Lively is the new face of Chanel
Blake Lively of "Gossip Girl" fame has been chosen as the face of Chanel's "Mademoiselle" handbag line by designer Karl Lagerfeld.
"Her spontaneity and fresh, youthful image have convinced Chanel that she is the right person to represent the house and this range of bags," the company said in a statement on its website, calling Lively a "a rising star on the American movie scene."
Lively also plays Carol Ferris in the new superhero film "Green Lantern" with Ryan Reynolds and recently starred in the Ben Affleck movie "The Town".
The launch of the new Chanel campaign, photographed by Lagerfeld, will debut in mid-March, the company said.
On the CW teen series, Lively plays Serena van der Woodsen, a New York socialite who dons the latest trends. Lively herself is somewhat of a fashionista and was reported in November to have bought more than 40 pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes, estimated to be worth a total of at least $6,000, at a sample sale in New York.
