Blake Lively forced to babysit while promoting 'Savages'
Blake Lively was forced to bring nephew on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon," while promoting her R-rated film "Savages" on Friday.
The 24-year-old actress, who plays New York socialite Serena van der Woodsen on "Gossip Girl," told Fallon that she had to bring her nephew to the late night talk show because she "couldn't find a babysitter."
Fallon took Lively aside before continuing the movie to remind her of the adult nature of her film and the pair decided to downplay the sex and violence.
Lively described the sex scenes as "high velocity cuddles" and the pair called marijuana a "magical plant." When talking about her kidnapping scene, the actress said she was "borrowed" with a "fun mask" and "jump rope" around her neck.
Before playing a clip from the movie, Fallon placed a "special hat" on the young boy's head to keep him from watching, but the youngster was too engrossed in an iPad game to notice any commotion.
"Savages" follows pot growing best friends Ben and Chon (Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch) who fight back against a Mexican drug cartel who kidnapped their shared girlfriend O (Lively) after they refuse to go into business with them.
The movie, which was directed by Stone and is set for release on July 6, also stars Benicio Del Toro, Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Salma Hayek, Demian Bichir, Emile Hirsch and Trevor Donovan.
Lively told BULLETT magazine that unlike her previous films like "The Town" and "Hick," which required her to play gritty characters with regional accents, it was a little difficult for her to get into the role for "Savages" because the character is very similar to herself.
"To play a blond California girl who gets with two men was scary," Lively said about the role. "If it looks like me and talks like me, how do I turn it into something different? It would have been easier if I'd been thrown into the movie with a Scottish accent and purple hair."
She added, "My greatest challenge was to make her life worthy of saving, to find the heart in this story."
Lively recently commented on the upcoming last season of "Gossip Girl," admitting that the series was "not her best work." It was announced in May that "Gossip Girl" would come to an end after the sixth season. The show has been renewed by The CW for a shorter season with just 11 episodes.
The actress, who is rumored to be dating her "Green Lantern" co-star Ryan Reynolds, also brought her three nephews to the premiere of "Green Lantern."
