Billy Joel, a 61-year-old singer known for songs such as "Piano Man" and We Didn't Start the Fire", is recovering from recent surgery on both of his hips, made to correct a congenital ailment.

"Billy Joel is doing extremely well following bilateral hip replacement and will be back at his Long Island home by the end of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend," his spokesperson said in a statement to OnTheRedCarpet.com.

Joel has sold more than 100 million records over the past 40 years and toured several cities in the United States earlier this year.
