'Big Love' canceled after season 5, which begins in January

The HBO drama series Big Love, which tells of a polygamist family and stars Bill Paxton, is set to end after its fifth season that begins next year, the cable network said on Thursday.
In the show, Paxton is the husband of three women, played by Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloe Sevigny and Ginnifer Goodwin, all of whom have children with him.
His character, also named Bill, battles his in-laws and struggles to maintain his faith, keep all his wives happy and ensure the secrecy and safety of his family in modern American society.Big Love also stars Amanda Seyfried, who recently starred in the film Letters to Juliet, and Grace Zabriskie, who played Laura Palmer's mother on the 1990s supernatural mystery series Twin Peaks. The fifth season premieres on Jan. 16, 2011.
