Beyonce, Jay-Z, Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Vice President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are just some of the celebrities and notable people who may have had their financial information posted online as the result of a hacking scheme.

Reports surfaced on Monday, March 11, of a website that posted what appears to be private financial information, social security numbers and credit reports of celebrities and government officials.

A spokesperson from the FBI National Press Office told KABC Television, OTRC.com's parent company, "We're aware of the website."

"Obviously we take these things seriously. Our threat management unit takes a look at any of those things," LAPD Capt. Andy Smith said. "Naturally we don't discuss any of the intimate details of how we go about those investigations or what we do to protect our personnel but we take all incidents like this very seriously."

Pages posted on Vice President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did not include sensitive information like credit reports, but did include addresses and other information, according to The Associated Press.

The wire service also reports that the social security numbers posted on the site for Mel Gibson and Jay-Z matched records in public databases.

Spokespeople for celebrities like Gibson, Beyonce, Paris Hilton and Ashton Kutcher did not respond to requests for comment on the matter when asked by KABC Television.

The site's existence was first reported by TMZ on Monday. Others targeted in the hack included FBI Director Robert Mueller and Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck.
