'Beetlejuice 2' in the works, Tim Burton may return to direct - report
If we say his name three times in a row, can we make this happen faster?
"Beetlejuice 2" is in the works, the Hollywood Reporter said on Monday, Oct. 21. The trade outlet quoted sources as saying that Warner Bros. Pictures has made Tim Burton an offer to return to direct the sequel to the cult 1988 fantasy-horror film, while Michael Keaton is expected to reprise his role as the title character. The parties have not commented.
In the original film, Beetlejuice is a charismatic "bio-exorcist" who sports wild hair and wears a white pinstriped suit. Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis played Adam and Barbara, a recently-deceased young couple who become ghosts and enlist his services to try and rid their house of its new owners -- the artsy Delia, played by Catherine O'Hara, and Charles, played by Jeffrey Jones of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" fame.
Winona Ryder plays the pair's daughter, Lydia, who is obsessed with death and becomes Beetlejuice's love interest.
