Axl Rose's jewelry, worth $200,000, recovered, model arrested
Police in Paris recently arrested a female model suspected to have been involved in the theft of some $200,000 worth of jewelry from Axl Rose, singer of Guns N' Roses.
The 50-year-old frontman's rock band is currently touring Europe and Israel. Police sources said three gold and diamond necklaces that belong to him were stolen during a Guns N' Roses after-party that followed the group's concert in Bercy stadium in Paris on June 5. Officers were called in to calm the situation after Rose became enraged over the theft, the Agence France-Presse news wire reported.
Authorities recently arrested a model who attended the private 100-person bash and say she has handed over the jewelry to a police station, the outlet said late on Wednesday, June 6, quoting police as saying the woman said she was not sure how she ended up leaving with the items.Guns N' Roses is set to perform in Munchengladbach, Germany on Friday and is planning on returning to France on Saturday to perform several concerts until June 22, when they head to countries such as Italy, Switzerland, Israel, Turkey and Serbia. The band's final scheduled European concert takes place on July 22 in Spain.
Rose is the last remaining original member of Guns N' Roses. The band in its current form is not as popular as it was in the 1980s and 1990s, when it included guitarist Slash and released hits such as "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Don't Cry," and "Paradise City." The musician is currently working as a solo artist.
In April, Rose made headlines by declining and invitation to attend Guns N' Roses' Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which would have marked his first major reunion with his former band mates in about 20 years. Slash and former group members Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Steven Adler accepted their honor and performed in his absence.
Rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin was also a no-show but released a statement of support via former band mate and Seattle Weekly writer McKagan.
Stadlin did, however, make a surprise appearance at the band's concert in London on May 31 and performed several songs, including the hits "Paradise City," "Nightrain" and "You Could Be Mine." He has performed with Rose several times since he quit Guns N' Roses in 1991.
"If you're here at the O2 in London, you just witnessed @axlrose sing 14 Years with Mr. Izzy Stradlin!" the group posted on Twitter.
