Avril Lavigne, Deryck Whibley of the band Sum 41 finalize divorce
Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley of the band Sum 41 have finalized their divorce, which she filed last year.
A judge recently approved the terms of the split, which calls for both Canadian rock musicians to retain the rights to their own song catalogues, awards and guitars, court records show. Lavigne has been linked to Los Angeles socialite and reality star Brody Jenner since early this year.
Lavigne, 26, and Whibley, 30, married in July 2006 in California and have no children together. Lavigne filed for divorce in October 2009, citing irreconcilable differences.
Meanwhile, Lavigne, known for hits such as "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi", says she plans to release her fourth studio album soon and will shoot a music video for the first single from it in about a week. The song, called "What the Hell" is due in January.
"This song is the least personal song to me off this album," Lavigne said on her website last week. "It's a fun and funny anthem. It has a broad message about personal freedom. It is the most pop track on the record."
