'Argo,' 'Sinister' and 'Here Comes the Boom' reviewed by Mr. Moviefone
This week at the movies, there's a movie within a movie, what? Here comes the boom, and evil is never good, but this time it's "Sinister."
Ethan Hawke is a crime writer who discovers an ancient demon who uses old family films to cross over, murder families, and pull kids to the other side.
The Reel Deal: The best horror film to hit theaters this year, it'd be a good idea to bring an extra pair of shorts to the movies with ya, if you know what I'm sayin'. I'm in.
The lives of six Americans are on the line in "Argo." Written and directed by Ben Affleck, it's based on the true story of six American hostages who, during the Iran hostage crisis, managed to escape to safety by posing as filmmakers pretending to be making a movie.
The Reel Deal: A crackerjack, wildly entertaining thriller with an A-plus cast, Affleck ups his game with "Argo," one of the best films of the year. I'm in.
A teacher is putting up his dukes in "Here Comes the Boom."
Kevin James plays a slacker biology teacher who moonlights as an MMA fighter, raising money to save the school's music program and its teacher (played by Henry Winkler).
The Reel Deal: About as much fun as being put in a rear naked choke hold. Come on, Kevin James, here comes the boom and there goes your career. I'm out.
Also in theaters, when six just isn't enough, there's the wildly entertaining psycho-killer comedy "Seven psychopaths." My word, with all this goodness, however will you choose?
