Anne Hathaway: No real sex with Jake Gyllenhaal in 'Love and Other Drugs'
Anne Hathaway says that she and Jake Gyllenhaal did not actually have sex in their new R-rated film "Love and Other Drugs", which sees their characters being frequently naked and intimate.
In the film, Hathaway plays Maggie, a free-spirited woman with young onset Parkinson's disease who falls in love with Gyllenhaal's character, a pharmaceutical salesman and master seducer. The two fall in love as they pursue a sexual relationship.
"We decided from the get-go that real sex was out," Hathaway recently said on the E! talk show "Chelsea Lately". "But it wasn't like a real conversation but we watched some films that do real sex and, I don't know, that makes me feel weird. There are some films where the actors really have sex."
When asked what was used to cover their private parts when they filmed sexual scenes, Hathaway said: "It's a thong with a lot of tape and the sides cut off. That's kind of it. The whole crew, they were so professional. Everyone made us as comfortable as we could possibly be. We spent a lot of time, weeks and weeks and weeks, naked with Jake Gyllenhaal and they paid me."
Gyllenhaal has said his character and Hathaway's have sex "like 18 times" in the film. Hathaway told OnTheRedCarpet.com earlier this month that she picked out her own fluorescent bras for her character to wear.
