Anne Hathaway spoke out about her recent Katie Holmes impression, saying that while she hasn't heard from Holmes since the skit aired, it was all done out of love.

In November 2012, Hathaway returned to famed sketch comedy series "Saturday Night Live" for her second hosting gig, reprising her Holmes impression for a skit that parodied "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" with cast member Kate McKinnon doing an impression of DeGeneres. Hathaway's Holmes appeared to promote the actress' new Broadway show "Dead Accounts."

The 30-year-old starlet spoke out about the skit to Ellen DeGeneres on December 17.

"I have not heard from Katie [since the show aired]," Hathaway told UsWeekly. "What I really wanted to have happen, because this is the second time I've done Katie...I wanted Katie to come on the show and do me, and I wanted to do this rap about how awesome I think Katie Holmes is...she is on broadway, and killing it on broadway, so she was busy."

The "Les Miserables" actress also took part in a "Homeland" parody where she portrayed actress Claire Danes, and explained how she sought out permission ahead of time for that role.

"I did talk to Claire Danes. I talked to her before I did it just to get her blessing, and she just said, 'Go for it,'" she explained to DeGeneres.

"For me with Katie and Claire [Danes]," she continued, "it's all done from so much love."

In November 2010, Hathaway first impersonated Holmes on "Saturday Night Live" during the "Miley Cyrus Show" skit, appearing extremely shy and nervous and talking about her early role on "Dawson's Creek" (Video).
