Anne Hathaway explains her Katie Holmes impression from her 'Saturday Night Live' appearance [Video]
During her hosting stint on "Saturday Night Live" last week, Anne Hathaway sent the fans buzzing about her Katie Holmes impression.
Appearing as shy and nervous, Hathaway played Holmes during the "Miley Cyrus Show" skit. However Hathaway tells The Hollywood Reporter, she wasn't really channeling Holmes' current personality but rather the mannerisms from her "Dawson's Creek" character.
"I was a teenager when 'Dawson's Creek' was airing, and I was a pretty avid fan, so it just sort of came from that," she said. "It wasn't really Katie Holmes; it was more [her 'Dawson's Creek' character] Joey Potter."
The actress' latest film with Jake Gyllenhaal "Love and Other Drugs," is currently in theaters. In the film, Hathaway plays Maggie, a free-spirited woman with young onset Parkinson's disease who falls in love with Gyllenhaal's character, a pharmaceutical salesman and master seducer. The two fall in love as they pursue a sexual relationship.
"We decided from the get-go that real sex was out," Hathaway recently said on the E! talk show "Chelsea Lately". "But it wasn't like a real conversation but we watched some films that do real sex and, I don't know, that makes me feel weird. There are some films where the actors really have sex."
When asked what was used to cover their private parts when they filmed sexual scenes, Hathaway said: "It's a thong with a lot of tape and the sides cut off. That's kind of it. The whole crew, they were so professional. Everyone made us as comfortable as we could possibly be. We spent a lot of time, weeks and weeks and weeks, naked with Jake Gyllenhaal and they paid me."
