Angelina Jolie: 'No secret wedding' planned with Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie says there is "no secret wedding" in the works for her and longtime partner Brad Pitt, following recent reports.
The 36-year-old actress, who has six children with the 47-year-old actor, made her comments to Vanity Fair magazine in an interview published in its October 2011 issue.
Engagement rumors regarding the pair have surfaced many times since the two stepped out publicly in 2005. Us Weekly magazine had reported in July that the couple would marry within months.
Jolie and Pitt, one of Hollywood's most famous couples, have been married to other people before. In May, Pitt told USA Today that marriage is "meaning more and more" to his and the actress' six children, adding: "So it's something we've got to look at."
In July 2010, Jolie told ABC News that she and Pitt may get married if their children asked them to do so, adding: "I think it'd be hard to say no to the kids. They're not asking. They are very aware that nothing's missing."
Jolie also told Vanity Fair that she is not pregnant and is not in the process of adopting another child. Three of her and Pitt's children are adopted from orphanages in Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam.
Jolie, a sex symbol known for her femme fatale movie roles, recently made her big-screen directorial and screenwriting debut with "In the Land of Blood and Honey," which tells about a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who fall in love at the time of the Bosnian war in the 1990s.
Jolie told Vanity Fair that she was inspired to write the script while battling the flu.
"I had to be quarantined from the children for two days," she said. "I was in the attic of a house in France. I was isolated, pacing. I don't watch TV and I wasn't reading anything. So I started writing. I went from the beginning to the end. I didn't know any other way."
The actress said Pitt read her work while on a trip and told her over the phone: 'You know, honey, it's not that bad.'"
Jolie does not appear in the film, which stars regional stars Zana Marjanovic, Goran Kostic and Rade Serbedzija. Filming was completed in May and the movie is set for release on December 23.
Jolie, a UN Refugee Agency Goodwill Ambassador, and Pitt have visited Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past to discuss issues such as the plight of the country's displaced people. They recently attended the 17th Sarajevo film festival in Sarajevo, Bosnia, in July.
The actress said in a statement issued by the film studio, GK Films, that "In the Land of Blood and Honey" "is a love story, not a political statement."
Jolie is also one of the film's producers, along with the company's producer Graham King and his business partner Tim Headington, both of whom recently collaborated on the actress' film "The Tourist," which also stars Johnny Depp and was released in 2010.
Jolie has directed a project before - a 2007 documentary called "A Place in Time," which captures three minutes in time in various places around the world and also stars Anne Hathaway, Wyclef Jean and Jonny Lee Miller. The British actor was married to Jolie between 1996 and 1999 and starred with her in the 1995 film "Hackers."
