'Anchorman 2' new trailer: Ron Burgundy returns to the news (Video)
Is Ron Burgundy ditching San Diego to head to a 24-hour news network?
The new trailer for "Anchorman: The Legend Continues" was released on Wednesday, June 19, and reveals a little more about what's in store for the old Channel 4 newsmen.
The trailer kicks off with Burgundy (Will Ferrell) getting the old gang back together -- including Steve Carell's Brick Tamland, Paul Rudd's Brian Fantana and David Koechner's Champ Kind. The four are seen in 1970s style clothes, walking down a New York City street before it cuts to a scene where Burgundy is recruited for a 24-hour news channel.
"I'm going to do the thing that God put Ron Burgundy on this Earth to do," Ferrell says. "Have salon-quality hair and read the news."
The video also features glimpses of new characters, including one played by Kristen Wiig. Her character seems to be an intellectual match for Tamland, which isn't saying much. James Marsden of "X-Men" and "30 Rock" fame also appears as a potential and devastatingly handsome rival for Burgundy.
"Look at him. He's a prince," Kind says about Marsden's character.
Most noticeable is the inclusion of Meagan Good, whose character seems to be a new love interest for Burgundy. Although Christina Applegate does reprise her role as Veronica Corningstone (Burgundy's love interest from the first film), the size of her role has not been revealed.
The film is also set to have several cameo appearances by Tina Fey, Drake, Kanye West and more.
The original 2004 film, "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," was written by Ferrell and his longtime writing partner Adam McKay, who will be directing the sequel. The first film grossed $90.5 million worldwide.
"Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" hits theaters on December 20. Check out the trailer below.
