The Backstreet Boys attended the 40th anniversary of the American Music Awards on November 18, making time to chat about their new holiday single, their upcoming album and how they've lasted the test of time.

The popular boy band, which rose to fame almost 20 years ago in the 1990s, talked to OTRC.com's George Pennacchio at the November 18 ceremony, gushing about their upcoming holiday single, "It's Christmas Time Again."

The 2012 American Music Awards (AMAs) ceremony, which marks its 40th anniversary this year, airs live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on November 18.

Rihanna and Nicki Minaj lead the pack with four individual nods, while Justin Bieber, his mentor Usher, Maroon 5, Drake and the group One Director each earned three nominations. Other nominees include Rihanna's ex Chris Brown, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry and Pitbull. This year's ceremony also features a new category - Electronic Dance Music. Both singer Carly Rae Jepsen and Jennifer Morrison walked the red carpet donning shimmering looks that showed off some skin with plunging necklines.

Jepsen, who is known for her hit singles "Call Me Maybe" and "Good Time," wore a dress by Gomez Garcia with Brian Atwood shoes and a clutch by Edie Parker. The 26-year-old is up for New Artist of the Year at the award show.

Taylor Swift, Elisha Cuthbert of ABC's "Happy Endings" and Heidi Klum dazzled in golden or gold-accented dresses on the red carpet at the 2012 American Music Awards.

The 40th anniversary event aired on ABC from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles on November 18.
