The 2011 American Music Awards ceremony is set to take place on Sunday, November 20, at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and air live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

Adele, whose most recent album "21," is the best-selling album of the year in the United States, received the most nominations. The 23-year-old singer is up for artist of the year, favorite female artist, favorite album and favorite adult contemporary artist.

However, the British star isn't expected to attend the ceremony since she is recovering from a recent throat surgery.

Several other artists, including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Lil Wayne and The Band Perry received three nominations each. Beyonce, LMFAO, Kanye West and Bruno Mars are each up for two awards.

The show will feature performances from the likes of Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, her ex-husband Marc Anthony, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Brown, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Daughtry, Enrique Iglesias with Ludacris, Gym Class Heroes, Lil Jon, OneRepublic, will.i.am, Mary J. Blige, The Band Perry, David Guetta, Pitbull, Maroon 5 and last year's Artist of the Year, Justin Bieber.
