Amanda Bynes caught texting while driving, a week after DUI arrest
Amanda Bynes has not done much to reassure her fellow drivers since allegedly hitting a cop car on April 6.
The former Nickelodeon star was photographed using her iPhone while driving her black BMW over the curb of a red zone in Los Angeles, Calif., where it is illegal to text or use a cell phone while driving, unless the device is hands-free.
The photographer told People magazine that the 26-year-old actress was "not even looking at the road" and "went right through a stop sign."
Bynes was reportedly leaving the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on her way to West Hollywood nightclub Greystone Manor Supperclub, which were reportedly also her destinations on the evening of her arrest.
The "Easy A" and "Hairspray" actress was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol in West Hollywood after allegedly hitting a Los Angeles County Sheriff deputy's marked car with her black BMW.
No one was hurt in the collision, although both vehicles sustained minor paint damage, officials said in a statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com. The former child star, who celebrated her 26th birthday on April 3, spent several hours in custody. A mug shot of her with faded lilac-tinted hair was later released (see above).
The actress' father claimed that Bynes was "not drunk" at the time of her arrest, and said to People magazine, "I was told that she blew a zero on the Breathalyzer... She didn't have a single drink that night. My daughter doesn't drink.
According to the magazine, Bynes met with DUI attorney Richard Hutton, following her arrest. Hutton was Paris Hilton's lawyer following her 2007 DUI arrest.
The actress rose to fame as a child star with the Nickelodeon series "All That," which aired between 1996 and 2002. She also portrayed Taffy on the animated series "Rugrats" and starred opposite Colin First and Kelly Preston in the teen romantic comedy "What a Girl Wants." Between 2002 and 2006, she appeared on the sitcom "What I Like About You" with Jennie Garth.
She then starred in the movie "She's The Man," playing a college girl who disguises herself as her twin brother so she can play on a men's soccer team. Channing Tatum portrayed her love interest. Bynes also played pig-tailed Penny Pingleton in the musical film "Hairspray."
In June 2010, she announced on Twitter she had quit acting. A month later, she said she had "unretired," just ahead of the release of her latest film, the comedy "Easy A." She played a conservative student named Marianne opposite main star Emma Stone.
