Alison Sweeney leaving 'Days of Our Lives' (Poll)
The sands in the hourglass have run out for Alison Sweeney.
The actress and host of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" announced on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Tuesday, Jan. 21 that she is leaving the popular daytime soap opera, "Days of Our Lives" after 21 years on the show. Her full interview with DeGeneres can be viewed below.
"I decided that it's going to be my last year with the show," Sweeney said to DeGeneres. "I've been on 'Days of Our Lives' since I was 16 years old, and I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time. I mean, it's awesome, I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans. I love everything about it."
"I have worked so much and my daughter just turned five and my son is nine and I just want to be with them and enjoy my last year," she continued. "I'm going to be on 'Days' all this year. We don't have a specific time, but I'm going to be on all this year and see what happens."
Sweeney's character, Sami Brady, has long been known as one of the show's main troublemakers with a history of failed relationships with men and manipulative ways. When asked by DeGeneres what would happen to the vindictive character, Sweeney thinks Sami deserves a "Breaking Bad" style ending.
"I don't know. I mean it would be awesome to have some sort of happy ending, and I also think maybe Sami probably deserves some sort of very twisted, 'Breaking Bad.' She's caused a lot of people a lot of problems."
Sweeney currently remains host of NBC's "The Biggest Loser," a role she has held for the past seven years. She also released a novel, "The Star Attraction," in May 2013.
