Alicia Silverstone recently shared her breakfast of vegan delights with her baby son Bear Blu by feeding him mouth-to-mouth.
The 35-year-old "Clueless" actress posted a photo and YouTube video of the bird-like practice on her website, "The Kind Life."
"I just had a delicious breakfast of miso soup, collards and radish steamed and drizzled with flax oil, cast iron mochi with nori wrapped outside, and some grated daikon. Yum!" she wrote. "I fed Bear the mochi and a tiny bit of veggies from the soup&from my mouth to his."
"It's his favorite ... and mine," she added. "He literally crawls across the room to attack my mouth if I'm eating. This video was taken about a month or 2 ago when he was a bit wobbly. Now he is grabbing my mouth to get the food!"
As of Tuesday afternoon, the 40-second video of Silverstone feeding her son mouth-to-mouth had 68 likes and 246 dislikes. The clip was posted on March 20.
U.S. government-controlled health organizations do not recommend mouth-to-mouth transfer of prechewed food due to the risks of passing disease. But scores of mothers have used the practice, often called premastication or "kiss feeding," during their babies' weaning stage.
Silverstone and her husband Christopher Jarecki, a musician, welcomed their son, who is her first child, on May 5, 2011. Silverstone is an animal rights activist who maintains a strict vegan diet. She has written about vegan-friendly parenting and natural births on her website.
Silverstone played ditzy high school queen Cher in the 1995 teen movie "Clueless," one of the most iconic films of the 1990s that spurred fashion trends and a slew of catchphrases, namely, "As if!"
The actress is also known for films such as "Batman & Robin" in 1997 and "Blast From the Past" in 1999. She starred in the series "Miss Match" in 2003 and filmed the comedy film "Butter" with "Twilight" actress Ashley Green and "Wolverine" star Hugh Jackman. It is set for release in October.
Silverstone also has a recurring role as Eden on the ABC sitcom "Suburgatory," which stars her "Clueless" co-star Jeremy Sisto. She will appear on the show for the first time on an episode airing on April 18. Sisto and his wife are parents to daughter Charlie-Ballerina and son Bastian Kick, who was born on March 9.
