Alexa Vega shows off curves in 'Machete Kills' - See photo
Alexa Vega, best known for her role in the "Spy Kids" franchise proved she is all grown up, sharing another sexy photo from the upcoming film, "Machete Kills."
In the new photo, a still from the Robert Rodriquez action sequel, the 24-year-old actress is shown wearing a bikini top and chaps, holding a machine gun, while two cars smolder in flames in the background.
"We just went through a pretty epic chase in this photo. This is the after math of [my character] KillJoy hunting down her targets," Vega told Just Jared of the photo.
"Machete Kills" is the sequel to Rodriguez's 2012 film, "Machete" and follows Machete (Danny Trejo) after he is hired by the U.S. government to take down an arms dealer in Mexico who plots to launch a weapon into space.
The film, which is slated for release on April 11, 2013, also stars Lady Gaga, Amber Heard, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens, Michelle Rodriguez, Antonio Banderas and Cuba Gooding Jr.
In the movie, Vega portrays a character named Killjoy, who is an assassin who works for Sofia Vergara's character, Madame Desdemona. She described her character to the Hollywood Reporter as being the "bodyguard of a whore house."
"I'd never felt comfortable enough, and I never thought this would be the project where I'd take a step forward," Vega told the industry magazine in August. "This was all about owning my sexuality... I worked really hard for it in a way that I never had to work hard for something before."
Rodriguez directed Vega in all four "Spy Kids" films, the first of which debuted in 2001. The director also walked Vega down the aisle in her 2010 wedding to film producer Sean Covel, 36.
Vega recently filed for a divorce from Covel, citing irreconcilable differences, and wrote on Twitter, "My relationship with Sean was deeply important and formative for both of us. It simply evolved out of a marriage and into a friendship."
Since "Spy Kids," Vega has starred in two episodes of ABC series "The Middle" and the movie From "Prada to Nada" with Wilmer Valderrama. She has also appeared in films like "Rep! The Genetic Opera" and "The Devil's Carnival."
