Adam Sandler: My friends 'love Katie Holmes,' tried to challenge Tom Cruise (Video)

Adam Sandler says his friends "all love Katie Holmes now" after the two filmed the new comedy film "Jack & Jill."

The movie sees the pair playing a husband and wife. Sandler also dresses in drag to play the man's abrasive twin sister. Hijinks ensue when she spends Thanksgiving with the family.

Holmes had said some of the film was shot on a cruise ship and that the pair's real-life families joined them. She is married to actor Tom Cruise and they have a 5-year-old girl, Suri.

"My friends all love Katie Holmes now ... a lot of infatuation with Katie Holmes," Sandler told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "Never seen my friends do more push-ups, trying to challenge Cruises' manhood. It was like, 'I can be strong, too!'"

"I laughed so hard making this movie," Holmes added. "I loved both Jill and Jack and I thought their dynamic was hilarious and so relatable. I liked playing Erin, who is caught in between and just trying to be polite and respectful and keep it all going."

Sandler, who also has a wife and two daughters, rose to fame as an actor on the sketch comedy series "Saturday Night Live" in the 1990s and later became even more famous with movies such as "Happy Gilmore" and "Billy Madison."

Sandler, who earned an estimated $40 million over the past year, heads his own company that co-produces most of his films these days. This allows him to have more influence on casting. "Jack & Jill" features cameos from several known celebrities and television personalities.

Sandler jokes that his friends contact him to inquire about roles in his projects.

"They call me throughout the year, saying ... 'I want to do a new hot tub. Costs $7,500. Can you please put me in the next one?'" Sandler joked. "I say, 'You can't put that pressure on me, man.' 'Well, I already bought it.' 'All right, I'll do it.' It's usually like that. It's a money thing."

"I don't love being around these guys too long but then after the fact, after they do a mediocre job, I say, 'Okay, glad we got that over with,'" he added.
