Adam Levine took some time on "The Voice" on Monday, November 27, to talk about a time before Maroon 5 hit it big and The Roxy, a nightclub / music venue in Los Angeles, wouldn't give the band a dressing room.

Levine's comments came just after contestant Cassadee Pope performed a song by Michelle Brach. The singer Levine recalled a gig the band had when they opened for Branch at The Roxy years ago.

"I remember we opened for her at The Roxy, and they didn't even give us a dressing room. I hate The Roxy. I'll never play there again," Levine said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He later added, "The Roxy's horrible. Don't ever go there. They screwed us over, and now they're paying for it."

The club responded on Twitter after the show aired, first asking what Levine meant. The second Tweet served as a comeback at Levine.

"We have officially named our dressing room after @AdamLevine ;)," the nightclub wrote in a Tweet. There was also a photo attached that featured The Roxy's marquee with a sign that said, "Adam Levine your dressing room is ready." The photo can be seen above.

Michelle Branch spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the story and while she didn't recall what happened exactly, the singer defended the night club.

"I'm sure it wasn't the Roxy's fault," Branch said. "Most likely my band was given one room and I was given the other per my contract."

Yahoo!'s Reality Rocks blog reached out to The Roxy owner Nic Adler who said that Maroon 5 had played at the club at least five times before Levine's rant and that Levine's previous band, Kara's Flowers, had played at the club often.

"I use Maroon 5 as an example of a hard-working band that played the Sunset Strip and played the clubs and blew up. And so when he said that...you know, the Roxy has no control over dressing rooms," Adler said. "If Michelle Branch is playing, it's Michelle Branch's show. And if her management says, 'I want Michelle in this dressing room and I want her band in this other dressing room,' we're at the mercy of the headliner. For a band to think dressing rooms define how we treat bands is crazy."

Levine has not responded publicly to The Roxy's Tweets or anyone else's comments on the matter.
