Adam Lambert is 'excited' about the new 'American Idol' judges

01/19/2011 by Kristina Lopez

When "American Idol" kicks off on Wednesday for its tenth season, the show will have two new stars at the judges' table. Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler and actress/singer Jennifer Lopez make their debut on the talent reality show. They are replacing DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell as judges, while Randy Jackson is returning.

So does one former "American Idol" runner-up think the new judges are fit for the task? Adam Lambert thinks so and is "excited" for the changes.

The 28-year-old glam rocker, who came in second on "American Idol" in 2009, says, "Steven Tyler, to me, is a legend. Aerosmith is one of my favorite bands. His voice is incredible. I sang one of on 'Idol' and I think he's going to be really colorful and amazing and give a lot of off the cuff, very rock star advice, which I think is something the show has been missing."

Lambert made his comments to OnTheRedCarpet.com at the recent premiere of season three of the show "RuPaul's Drag Race."

As for Lopez, Lambert says he's a fan. "J.Lo is one of my favorite pop stars. I remember being 18, 19, graduating high school listening to 'Waiting for Tonight,'" he told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "I think she's a class act. So I'm really excited."

Lambert also gave an update on his plans for releasing his second studio album, which may be "a little dark," and a new single later this year. Be sure to check out the video above for all the details.
