Academy Awards red carpet sees white hot frocks - poll
White frocks ruled the red carpet at the 84th Academy Awards on February 26, 2012.
Among the stars who dazzled in white were Rooney Mara, Milla Jovovich, Shailene Woodley, Octavia Spencer and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Rooney Mara ditched her usual black wardrobe and stepped out in a Givenchy Couture gown with delicate white lace throughout and a plunging neckline. The dress had a fragile, almost ethereal vibe in sharp contrast against her jet black hair, blunt bangs and dramatic red lips. She is nominated for the best actress honor for her role in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."
Jovovich, who is a presenter for the event, wore a pearly white one-shoulder sequenced gown from Elie Saab's Haute Couture collection. She wore her hair away from her face and sported a deep scarlet lip.
Octavia Spencer looked glamorous in a white, beaded short-sleeved Tadashi Shoji gown. Spencer, who won the award for best Actress in a Supporting Role for "The Help", rounded out her look with a silver box clutch and silver drop earrings to match.
Woodley was all covered up in a white, long-sleeve, floor-length Valentino gown. The dress featured a crew neck and small cutout details in the front and down the skirt.
Paltrow, who is a presenter for the event, rocked a sleek white Tom Ford cape dress. She kept things simple with a sparkly cuff bracelet and wore her hair parted to the side, slicked back in a low ponytail. When she ditched the cape as she stepped on stage to present the award for the best Documentary (Feature), she revealed capped sleeves with strong shoulder details.
