Aaron Carter enters treatment center, aims to heal 'emotional and spiritual issues'
Aaron Carter, a singer and brother of Nick Carter of the pop group the Backstreet Boys, has entered a treatment facility.
Aaron Carter, 23, has not commented publicly on the ailment he is battling but said on his Twitter page on Sunday night: "The main thing in life is not to be afraid of being human."
His manager told People magazine that the singer is being treated for "some emotional and spiritual issues," while E! News echoed the statement and quoted a source close to Aaron Carter as saying he had entered a private Southern California facility earlier this month to treat addiction issues."
Aaron Carter rose to fame as a child with the 1997 hit "Crush on You." He later went on to release four studio albums and also appeared on shows such as "7th Heaven" and "Popstar." He was also a contestant on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" in 2009 and appeared with his brother and three sisters in the reality show "House of Carters" in 2006.
A.J. McClean from the Backstreet Boys said on January 13 that he had checked into a rehab center. He did not specify his ailment and said it would not affect an upcoming Backstreet Boys-New Kids on the Block tour that is set to start in June.
McClean began treatment programs in 2001 and 2002 for alcohol abuse, depression and anxiety.
