ABC's long-running soap opera, 'All My Children' to be canceled?
"All My Children" is making headlines following reports that ABC plans on cutting back its daytime schedule and the long-running daytime soap opera may be the next to go, reports Deadline.
The ABC show has been on the air since January 1970 and follows the residents of a town called Pine Valley, a fictional suburb of Philadelphia. Since its inception, Emmy-winner Susan Lucci has portrayed one of the most popular characters on the show, Erica Kane.
A show spokesperson told OnTheRedcarpet in a statement, "The Deadline.com piece is just another story in a long line of stories about this same topic."
There is currently no change to the ABC daytime schedule, despite claims that "AMC" would be replaced by a talk show. The popular show has received 60 Daytime Emmy Awards and over 250 nominations.
"All My Children" recently had two weeks of all-time lows in viewership, down to 463,000 from its average 2.32 million, making the show last in viewership among the six daytime dramas currently on air.
Well-known "All My Children" alumni include Josh Duhamel, Amanda Seyfried, Melissa Leo, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Christian Slater and Kelly Ripa.
