'30 Rock' season 6 trailer reveals Liz Lemon's new romance
"30 Rock" is set to return to NBC next month and a trailer for the highly anticipated 6th season hit the Web on Friday.
The teaser revealed a new love interest for Tina Fey's Liz Lemon character, played by "Straw Dogs" star James Marsden.
"Liz is completely re-energized," Fey said in the trailer. "She does have a new love interest. We don't know how I met him but I have a really handsome boyfriend."
"[Liz is] trying to loosen up by dating somebody who is a little more laidback. That could either be good for her or ultimately bad for her," Marsden hinted.
The sixth season will see the return of guest stars like Will Arnett's Devon Banks and Kelsey Grammer as another version of himself. Denise Richards is also set to make an appearance.
There will also be a new member of the NBC page program portrayed by "The Flight of the Conchords" actress Kristen Schaal.
On "30 Rock," Fey plays TV writer Liz Lemon, while Baldwin portrays her boss, Jack Donaghy, whose wife Avery Jessup has been kidnapped by North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il at the end of season 5 and Donaghy is left to raise their daughter.
"30 Rock" began in 2006 and is loosely based on Fey's experiences on the NBC sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live." The show has won 14 Emmy Awards, including "Best Comedy Series."
Ratings peaked in late 2008 and early 2009, soon after Fey parodied Sarah Palin, a Republican former governor of Alaska who is seen as a possible 2012 presidential candidate, during guest stints on "Saturday Night Live."
Fey said in her new memoir, which was released in June, that her impressions of Palin may have hurt ratings for "30 Rock."
Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin's recent spat with American Airlines escalated to the point that the Association of Professional Flight Attendants to called for a ban of "30 Rock" on the airline's in-flight entertainment schedule.
The sixth season of "30 Rock" will premiere on Thursday, January 12 at 8 p.m. on NBC. Watch a preview for the upcoming season below.
