Tick tick tick ... turns out, time is not up after all for Jack Bauer!

FOX has announced that it is reviving the hit spy series "24," which starred Kiefer Sutherland and originally aired for eight seasons, between 2001 and 2010. The news comes following the recent cancellations of the network's drama "Touch," the actor's most recent show, and the ABC sitcom "Happy Endings," which starred Eliza Cuthbert, who played his character's daughter on "24."

The new season, titled "24: Live Another Day" will premiere in the summer of 2014, FOX announced on Monday, May 13. The show will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and Howard Gordon's Teakwood Lane Productions. Sutherland, who won an Emmy in 2006 for his role as CIA agent Jack Bauer, is the only confirmed returning cast member so far.

"The response to '24' is unlike anything I have ever experienced as an actor before," Sutherland said in a FOX statement obtained by OTRC.com. "To have the chance to reunite with the character, Jack Bauer, is like finding a lost friend. The story ideas from Howard Gordon are exciting and fresh, and will not disappoint. Great thanks to 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and the FOX network for this opportunity. Make no mistake, my goal is to knock your socks off. See you soon."

"It's great to have Jack back," Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Fox Broadcasting Company said in a statement obtained by OTRC.com. "The series remains a global sensation, and everyone at FOX is thrilled to be back at work with Kiefer, Howard and the incredibly creative '24 team.'"

"24" won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006 and has been nominated for a total of 73 Emmys since its debut. After the series finale aired in 2010, it was reported that a "24" movie was in the works. Sutherland had said on ABC's "The View" in March 2011 that the film was due the following year. It is unclear if a movie is still being developed.
