Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are in a Twitter war.
The stars of the upcoming reboot to "21 Jump Street" challenged each other on the social networking site to get the most followers by November 2. The stunt is, in part, to promote the upcoming film and the winner of the challenge will post a link to the red-band trailer for "21 Jump Street."
The two also appear in videos discussing the challenge. "Retweet this, tell your friends and help me get more followers than him. Because as great of a guy as he is, I'm a better one," Hill said in his video, which can be seen below.
Meanwhile, Tatum admits in his video that Hill is a "super talented" but "he's also crazy competitive and he makes everything into a contest."
"2 Days Left to help me beat @JonahHill," Tatum Tweeted on Monday, October 31. "Help me get more NEW followers by Wed & I'll tweet the @21JumpStMovie Red Band trailer! RETWEET!"
"21 Jump Street" is an updated take of the 1980s cop television series that once starred Johnny Depp between 1987 and 1990. The actor will reportedly make a cameo in the film.
The show also starred Holly Robinson Peete, a former co-host on "The Talk", and Peter DeLuise. It depicted young officers going undercover, often in high schools. Michael Bendetti was cast in the lead role following Depp's departure before the fifth and final season began in 1991.
The "21 Jump Street" film is due for release on March 16, 2012. Aside from Tatum, others set to star in the new movie are Jonah Hill, Rob Riggle, DeRay Davis, Dave Franco, Jake Johnson, Brie Larson, who will portray the female lead, and Ice Cube, who will play the police captain.
