Larry Miller, the dad on '10 Things I Hate About You,' has been hospitalized after falling backwards and hitting his head, the actor's rep confirmed to OnTheRedCarpet.com.

The accident occurred when Miller went to a bar after taping a segment on Adam Carolla's daily podcast show. The actor reportedly went outside to take a phone call and when he returned, slipped and hit the back of his head on the hard floor.

The 58-year-old actor and comedian is in stable condition in the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles hospital, his rep Michael Hansen confirmed to OnTheRedCarpet.com on April 4. Miller is expected to make a full recovery but is being held for observation in the ICU. He is expected to be released after a few days.

Miller is perhaps best known for his role as patriarch Walter Stratford in the 1999 movie and subsequent ABC Family spin-off series "Ten Things I Hate About You," which helped launch the careers of Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Miller has also appeared in films like "Pretty Woman," "L.A. Story," "The Nutty Professor," "Waiting for Guffman," "Best in Show," "The Princess Diaries" and "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang."

Miller has two children with wife, TV writer and producer Eileen Conn, who he wed in 1993.

Miller recently appeared in the film "New Year's Eve" and in episodes of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Bent." His next performance will be in the comedy "General Education," which also stars Janeane Garofalo and is slated for release on June 20, 2012.
