Matthew McConaughey marries fiancee Camila Alves
Matthew McConaughey is now a married man, according to reports.
The actor married his fiancee Camila Alves on June 9 in a private ceremony in Austin, Texas, the actor's spokesperson confirmed to People magazine. Alves, who has two children with McConaughey, will take the actor's last name and will be known as Camila McConaughey.
The couple has been together for six years and McCanuaghey proposed to Alves on Christmas Day last year. The two were married before close friends, family and their two children, 3-year-old son Levi and two-year-old daughter Vida.
This is the first marriage for 42-year-old McConaughey. He and Alves, a 29-year-old Brazilian model, met in 2007. The actor reportedly wore a three-piece black Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo while Alves wore a handmade wedding gown by her favorite Brazilian designer.
McConaughey, a Texas-born actor, is known for roles in films like "Dazed and Confused," "A Time to Kill," " How To Lose a Guy In 10 Days," and "The Lincoln Lawyer." He has an upcoming role in the movie "Magic Mike" in which he plays Dallas, the owner of a male strip club. The film is set for release on June 29.
McConaughey will also appear alongside Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron in "The Paperboy," which hits theaters on November 23 and in "Mud" with Reese Witherspoon.
In March, Alves told ET Canada that she felt as though she was already married to McConaughey.
"We have homes together, we have family together, we have kids, we've built a life together. So, we've been living a married life this whole time," Alves told ET Canada. "I think it's great for the kids... Levi actually understands what it means now that Mama's going to have the same last name as they have."
