Comedianne Jo Anne Worley told On the Red Carpet's Rachel Smith, “These cats should all be spayed and neutered you know? I think they are feral cats, but they are very talented.”

Bob Newhart watches '30 Rock', 'The Office'

Comedian Bob Newhart talks about performing for a live audience at the Grammy Museum in Downtown L.A., where he celebrated 50 years in show business, March 9, 2010.

Bob Newhart doesn’t waste his time listening to laugh tracks.

On the Red Carpet’s Chris Balish caught up with the comedy legend at the Grammy Museum last night in Downtown L.A., where he was celebrating 50 years in show business.

Newhart said he watches 30 Rock and The Office because they don’t use laugh tracks, and he prefers performing for a live audience, like he did back in the day.

“It was like a play.  You’d rehearse it all week and then you’d show up on Friday night, and say I hope it works.  And I think you got better performances out of the actors, out of the writers, because they knew it was going to be judged by an audience.  And so when I hear a laugh track, I kind of go on to the next channel.

It was a 80’s flashback at this year’s Academy Awards with a moving tribute to the late director John Hughes.  He directed the 80’s classics Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles, all starring Molly Ringwald.

OnTheRedCarpet.com caught up with Molly this morning to talk about the tribute.

She told us, “I think the movies I did with John Hughes were really special and that they really spoke to teenagers, you know, they really spoke to teenagers seriously. There’s not a lot of movies that come along that are that special, that really stand the test of time. Those movies have a wonderful shelf life.  There’s teenagers who are still watching them today, generation after generation.  I just feel really proud to be part of those films.”
